Fitness: The Journey

As a former-athlete, it was never hard for me to stay in shape while I was in sports. Then, I stopped playing sports and for a while I was pretty good at working out. Unfortunately, that working out consisted of running, just running. At least I was doing something, though, right? Until I wasn't anymore. I stopped working out and taking care of myself and started gaining weight, having low energy, and not feeling like my best self. I didn't like what I saw, and I definitely didn't like how I felt.

When I realized I needed to do something, I tried a lot of different things. I gained almost 40 pounds before I found something that actually worked; at-home workouts and better nutrition. Yes, it was that simple. I lost weight and gained muscle. I feel so much better. People try to sell you on all different products for weight loss, but if you want weight loss to be sustainable, you need to do something that is going to make you feel better and get healthier while losing the weight to want to keep it off. Another tip: Find something you love and you are going to look forward to. For my at-home workouts, I pay less than $9 a month, which is so helpful for my financial journey, as well. You can try them for free for 14 days here: https://www.teambeachbody.com/shop/us/enrollment?referringrepid=863014.

Although I am able to make this sound like it was a quick journey, it hasn't been. I've been working on myself for at least 5 years now. It did not happen overnight. I originally just wanted to lose weight to look better, and that's ok.

I have learned a lot along the way that I cannot wait to share with you. Do's, do nots, good recipes, fun workouts, how to get through various seasons of life while staying healthy - moving, marriage, new job, etc.

My goal is to share best practices on getting and staying healthy. What is working at the time, what isn't working, things to do better, etc. I should mention that I do believe health is inside and out. I may share more than just fitness tips here as I try different things for my skin, hair, or nails. I hope this motivates you to be your best self everyday. Working out is one of the greatest gifts I have given myself. It has improved my energy levels, my work ethic, and my relationships with others and myself.
